Caitlin: Damar Hamlin – thankful that he is (1) alive and (2) seems to be doing well!
Hamlin, a DB (defensive back – safety) for the Buffalo Bills, went into cardiac arrest on Monday, January 2, after making a tackle on Cincinnati Bengals WR (wide receiver) Tee Higgins. Higgins’ shoulder went into Hamlin’s chest, and, well… it was terrible.
Medical personnel performed CPR on Hamlin – his heart had stopped.
His teammates went down around him, many in prayer, all afraid.
After stabilizing him, he was carted away in an ambulance, and the rest of the football game was suspended, and eventually canceled.
His first sentence after waking up from his medically-induced coma, “Did we win?”, is all too telling. Are we going to be okay with this game the way it is? Other games continued this past weekend… what’s the answer here?
